Douglas Nesbitt and his son Steven farm the 200-acre, owner-occupied Alwent Hall near Winston, Darlington.
Alwent Texel - Douglas, past president of the British Texel society and Steven run Alwent Texel, the flock of 120 excellent pedigree Texel ewes. Semen and progeny sales are particularly successful. The aim is to produce terminal sires that produce lambs with as high a meat yield as possible.
Alwent Charolais - Steve Nesbitt, former chairman of the British Charolais Society, is responsible for Alwent Charolais, the pedigree Charolais herd, which makes up a significant part of the farm business, with bulls selling into five figures at society sales at Carlisle and Stirling and strong national and international sales of semen and embryo.
The farm grows 90 acres of wheat, barley and oil seed rape.
